Building the core MVP of a healthcare data platform

TechTose built the core MVP of a unified data platform for a US healthcare data company, from the front end to the data lake, so hospital patient-record pipelines stay reliable.

The client: a US healthcare data company

Our client is a US data and technology company. Its flagship product is a unified data platform: one place to connect data sources, build pipelines, govern data and analyse it, without stitching together a separate tool for each job. In healthcare, that data is hospital patient records. The client chose TechTose to help build the platform's core MVP.

Why healthcare data platforms are hard to build

Healthcare data leaves little room for error. Patient records arrive from different hospital systems in different shapes, and a pipeline that quietly drops or duplicates a record does more harm than one that fails loudly. The platform had to connect many sources, keep pipelines healthy, keep personal data protected and still give people who don't write code a simple way in. That called for one team that owned every layer, not just one.

What we built on the healthcare data platform

Front end and pipeline canvas

The Next.js screens where teams connect data sources and explore results, plus a drag-and-drop canvas built with GoJS, where a pipeline is drawn as connected nodes instead of written as code.

Back end and APIs

Python services behind those screens: connecting to source systems, running the pipelines drawn on the canvas and serving data back to the application.

Databases

PostgreSQL data models and storage for the platform itself: sources, pipelines, users and the definitions shared across them.

Data lake

The analytics lake where data from connected sources lands, is organised and is ready to query.

How TechTose worked with the client's product team

We worked as part of the client's product team, led by our CTO, inside the client's own repositories, tools and process. Because TechTose owned every layer of the platform, from front end to back end to databases and the data lake, a feature could move from screen to storage without waiting on a hand-off between teams. Code, product and client details stayed confidential under the NDA throughout.

Where the platform stands now

The core MVP is complete and our engagement has ended. The client continues to develop and sell the platform.

Results

  • Core MVP of the platform completed
  • Front end, back end, databases and the data lake delivered by one team
  • Client, product and code kept confidential under NDA

Why the client and product aren't named

Many companies hire us to build the product their business depends on. Before we see a line of code, they ask us to keep it private, and we agree. So this page describes the work and the problem it solved, but not who it was for.

How we handle confidential work

  • We sign your NDA before you share code, data or plans.
  • Your code and accounts are yours. We work inside them, and our access ends when the work does.
  • We never name a client, product or person publicly without written permission.
  • We describe the work, not the client, as we have on this page.

Questions about this healthcare data project

Why isn't the client or the product named?

We signed an NDA, so the client's name, its product and its code stay confidential. We protect every client's work the same way. If you'd like to know more, book a call and we'll share what the NDA allows.

What did TechTose build on this healthcare data platform?

TechTose built the core MVP of a unified data platform for a US healthcare data company, across the front end, back end, databases and data lake. The platform connects data sources, runs pipelines and keeps hospital patient-record data organised and ready to analyse.

Does TechTose build healthcare data and data-lake software?

Yes. This project covered a full healthcare data platform, from the application screens to the data lake behind them. Most projects start with a free Scan of your app, code or idea, which comes back as a written report in 48 hours.
