Make your Bolt app production-ready
Bolt builds the frontend and backend in one go, which is exactly why it's worth checking where each piece runs, who can reach it and what keeps it up once real users arrive.

Where Bolt apps usually need work before launch
- API keys in code that runs in the browser
- Login screens that look finished, with no access rules on the data behind them
- Test data and real customer data sharing one database
- Deploys that go straight from the editor to real users, with no staging
- Backups nobody has ever restored, so nobody knows whether they work
How do I make my Bolt app production-ready?
Work through these six areas. Tick what's already true: whatever is left open is where real users find problems first.
Tick what's already true of your app.
- 01
Security and secrets
In Bolt Check which code runs in the browser. Any key in that code is visible to every visitor, whatever the variable is called. Move those calls behind a server function and rotate the keys.
- 02
Logins and roles
In Bolt If Bolt wired up Supabase or another login provider, confirm the database checks the user, not just the screens. A hidden button doesn't stop a request sent straight to the API.
- 03
Database
In Bolt Check access rules on every table the app created, and that test data isn't sitting in the production database. Seed scripts written for the demo should never run against real customers.
- 04
Deploys
In Bolt Export the project to GitHub, and keep a staging deploy separate from the live one.
- 05
Monitoring
In Bolt Add error tracking and uptime checks to the deployed app, not only the preview. A preview that works for you says little about the live app on a busy evening.
- 06
AI and usage costs
In Bolt Bolt tokens pay for building. Hosting, database and AI bills grow with your users, so set usage limits on AI calls on the server before launch.

What you get
- Summary: is it ready for real users?
- Findings by area, each rated by severity
- A prioritised fix plan: fix now, fix next, leave alone
- A 30-minute walkthrough of the findings

- API key exposed in frontend codeCritical
- No staging environment before deployHigh
- AI calls have no cost limit or fallbackMedium
You get the truth, whatever it is.
If your app is in good shape, we'll tell you.
If a small fix is enough, we'll show you how to do it yourself.
If it needs real work, you'll get a fixed-scope plan, with no pressure to buy.
Send us your Bolt app.
An app link or repo helps, but it is optional.
A personal reply with an honest view, even if it's 'you don't need us yet.'

Can I export my app from Bolt?
Yes. Download the project or push it to GitHub, and it runs like any other codebase. Moving the code into your own repository is often the first step towards a staging environment, reviewed deploys and a rollback when something goes wrong.
Is a Bolt app built on a real stack?
Usually, yes. Bolt generates standard web code, often React with a backend such as Supabase. That's good news: standard code can be hardened rather than rewritten, and the Scan report says which parts need it, in the order to fix them.
Do I have to rebuild my Bolt app?
Usually not. Most AI-built apps need hardening, not a rewrite. We keep what works and fix what doesn't.
Do I have to move off Bolt?
Not necessarily. The Scan report says whether it can stay where it is. If moving is the right call, Lift moves your database, users with their existing logins, files, scheduled jobs and domains to infrastructure you control.
What do you need to start?
Tell us where you are. An app link or repo helps but is optional. Don't send passwords, API keys or customer data; if private access is needed, we arrange it separately.
Is it really free?
Yes. You keep the report either way, and if you don't need us, we'll say so.
Is this a penetration test or certification?
No. It's a production-readiness review of your app's setup, not a certification.
